I haven’t read the book yet, but in discussions of cost of nuclear vs. fossil, I hope the point is made that when the EXTERNAL COSTS of fossil are considered – such as ~6 million early deaths from air pollution (ref. International Energy Agency) and climate change (ref. UN 2019 report), nuclear wins by a kilometer.

    Syd,
Flop is based on the premise that the emerging economies will pick whatever source of electricity is cheapest before external costs. It’s probably what they should do as we did. To solve the Gordian knot nuclear must be cheaper than coal or gas on this basis. The Flop claims that conventional nuclear should be able to do this very easily. But it cannot. The key questions then is why not? That’s the question Flop attempts to answer.
